Who We Are
California Advanced Imaging Medical Associates
California Advanced Imaging Medical Associates (CAIMA) has grown from a 5 person practice in the 1980s to the largest private radiology group in the California Bay Area. We exclusively provide the radiology services at 10 hospitals from Sutter Lakeside Hospital in the north to Mills-Peninsula Medical Center in the south. Our 60 radiologists are organized into regional divisions, leading to the ability to provide specialty services to our patients combined with business management and information technology support of CAIMA.
Our mission is to provide subspecialty expertise in all areas of imaging to our hospitals and outpatient imaging centers. By concentrating on subspecialty expertise, we are more than readers of imaging studies, we serve as valuable consultants to both our referring physicians and patients. We continue our academic approach to our profession by actively participating in multidisciplinary conferences at our affiliated hospitals, teaching at major medical schools, and frequently giving national and international lectures in our fields as well as publishing in medical literature.
CAIMA is centrally managed by a Board of Directors with physician representatives from each division. A core leadership team of radiologists comprising our executive committee and our experienced administrative staff manage the everyday affairs of our practice.
We have a wholly owned management company, Immix, LLC., which provides accounting, physician credentialing, contracting, human resources, information technology and other business functions for the physicians, allowing them to concentrate completely on their clinical practice of radiology and keeping all of our divisions at the forefront of current radiology practice guidelines. Immix also allows us to be more than contract physicians, but in addition business partners with our affiliated hospitals. We jointly own and cost effectively manage a prominent imaging center in San Francisco, California Pacific Advanced Imaging, along with Sutter Health. We also jointly own and provide subspecialty expertise to New Century Imaging in Oradell, New Jersey.
CAIMA has long been a pioneer in the development and implementation of teleradiology, allowing us to share our expertise throughout the United States in addition to our Bay Area practice. The physicians in our National Orthopedic Imaging Associates teleradiology group provide readings and consultations at roughly 60 imaging facilities in 15 states. We provide both on-site staffing and teleradiology back up for Ortho Nebraska Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.
We are proud that our organization has accomplished so much growth while continuing to provide local, personalized, and focused services to our individual patients and referring physicians at each of our division’s hospitals and outpatient centers.
