Dr. Barakos received his MD degree from the University of Southern California in 1986 and completed his medical internship and radiology residency at the University of California, San Francisco. He then completed a two-year neuroradiology fellowship in both adult and pediatric neuroradiology at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Barakos is a Senior Member of the American Society of Neuroradiology, and board certified in radiology with a certificate in added qualification in the subspecialty of neuroradiology.
