He studied Biology at UC San Diego and graduated Summa Cum Laude before heading to Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City for his MD degree. He stayed at Mount Sinai Medical Center for his Diagnostic Radiology residency training, then moved back to California where he completed multiple fellowship programs, including Interventional Radiology (IR) at UCLA and Abdominal Imaging at UCSF.
After completing training, he joined the faculty at UCSF in the IR section of the Department of Radiology. In 2018, Dr. Lehrman was named the Program Director for UCSF IR where he led residency and fellowship programs for 6 years, recruiting new trainees and performing administrative tasks.
Dr. Lehrman’s clinical practice focuses on Interventional Oncology (including liver cancer therapies such as arterial injection of Y-90 microspheres and thermal ablation), Women’s Health interventions (including fibroid embolization and fallopian tube recanalization), and endoleak embolization following stent graft repair of abdominal aneurysms.
His extensive academic history and diverse skill set have resulted in invitations to lecture both nationally and internationally, regularly speaking at the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR), Society of Interventional Oncology (SIO), and Western Angiographic and Interventional Society (WAIS) annual meetings.
Dr. Lehrman acts as a board examiner for the American Board of Radiology, giving oral examinations to Interventional Radiologists that have finished training and are hoping to become board certified.
In 2020, Dr. Lehrman was inducted into the Fellowship of the Society of Interventional Radiology (FSIR), which is a prestigious honor granted to less than 10% of its members. It is the SIR’s ultimate recognition of professional achievement.
