Marin A. McDonald, M.D., PhD

Dr. Marin McDonald is board-certified Neuroradiologist specializing in spinal imaging including degenerative, congenital and neoplastic conditions and shares an adjunct Associate professorship in the Division of Neuroradiology at UC San Diego Health. She completed her MD/PhD at UCSD in the Department of Neurosciences with thesis work in neuroimmunology and neural plasticity of the neuromuscular junction and spinal cord.  She then went on to pursue residency training in Diagnostic Radiology and a Fellowship in Neuroradiology at UCSD, joining faculty in 2018. During her time at UCSD, she was the sole line service imaging provider for the Anesthesia-Pain service, Orthopedic and Neurosurgical spine services and provided imaging support for multiple multidisciplinary conferences. Dr. McDonald is a nationally recognized lecturer on spinal imaging and is also actively engaged in research as part of a collaboration with Canon Medical Imaging USA, investigating new uses of artificial intelligence in imaging acquisition as well as novel techniques to diagnose spinal CSF leaks.
